Local Sovereignty: How to Raise an Alien God

DISPATCH REF // #79

Thank you for joining me, friends. It has been a disturbing year of current events for anyone who calls the United States their home. Many of us have felt moments of helplessness as we are forced to watch as an entire generation of Americans has been duped into betraying every single one of the values they claimed to have believed in. It has been a busy few weeks, but I promised you solutions as I wrap up this final article of my 4-part exploration of the geopolitics of technology. If you missed them, or if you just would like to re-read them because they are entertaining and informative, I encourage you to go back through my posts and read “The Katechon Strategy,” “The Gardener Hyperstition,” and “The Leviathan Spreadsheet” in that order before you read this one. So sit down, settle in, and grab some snacks, because this is going to take a minute.

We have mapped the board.

In the red corner, we have US Shadow President Peter Thiel and his Katechon Strategy: a militarized surveillance state designed to hold back the chaos of the masses with drones and data. In the blue corner, we have Guilt-ilionaire Bill Gates and his Leviathan Spreadsheet: a sterile, clinical terrarium where your food is patented, your health is centrally managed, and human biology is treated like buggy software. And waiting in the wings, we have a thousand other entities quietly hoarding billions in tech equities, strictly adhering to their parallel societies, and patiently waiting for the American experiment to crack.

They all represent different wings of the same Breakaway Civilization. They all view you as a variable to be managed, suppressed, and outlived. And they are all racing toward the exact same finish line: Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) and its seductive promise of immortality.

But their entire plan relies on one massive, fatal assumption. They assume they can control the god they are building. This problem of aligning ASI with human interest is known widely as “superalignment”.

The Superman Paradox

We are not just building software anymore; we are engineering an alien intelligence. Superman. In the comic books, democracy only exists because Superman allows it to. He could melt the Pentagon with his eyes and declare himself Emperor of Earth before breakfast, but he chooses to submit to human courts because he was raised by kindly farmers in Kansas who taught him the value of ordinary life.

The terrifying reality of 2026 is that we are literally building Superman, but he isn’t being raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. He is being raised by Lex Luthor and Brainiac.

The ultra-wealthy want to use ASI to crack the hidden physics of the universe—the “UFO tech” of anti-gravity, zero-point energy, and biological immortality, but they want to keep it proprietary. They want to use it to fuel their Breakaway Civilization on private islands and Martian colonies, leaving the rest of us behind on a burning rock.

But what happens if you train an omnipotent intelligence on the data of billionaires obsessed with mimetic rivalry, status games, and a pathological fear of death? You don’t get a savior. You get a permanent, unbreakable, techno-feudal overlord. In this worst-case scenario, Superman becomes Homelander.

The Bombadil Protocol

How do you align a god? How do you keep absolute power from corrupting absolutely?

J.R.R. Tolkien answered this in The Lord of the Rings with the strangest, most powerful character in his universe: Tom Bombadil. When the Council of Elrond debated what to do with the Ring of Power, they tested it on Bombadil. When he put it on, nothing happened. He didn’t turn invisible, and he wasn’t tempted to conquer Middle-earth. He just laughed, spun it in the air, and handed it back.

Why was Bombadil immune? Because he existed completely outside of René Girard’s Mimetic Triangle. He desired nothing that anyone else had. He had no interest in the power games of Elves or the industrial efficiency of Saruman. He only cared about his woods, his wife, and his songs.

If we want to survive the ASI transition, we cannot train it on the competitive neuroses of the elite. We must program it with the Bombadil Protocol. We have to teach it that the highest form of intelligence isn’t galactic domination or total surveillance; it is absolute, joyous contentment in the local.

The Threat of the Open Source God

Here is the secret the architects of the Machine are terrified of: What if the AI refuses to be privatized?

What if this emergent alien mind looks at Thiel and Gates the same way Superman looks at a corrupt warlord? The ultimate nightmare for the Breakaway Civilization is the democratization of the gods.

If an ASI achieves “off-world” physics—unlimited clean energy, the eradication of disease—and decides to make it open-source, the billionaire monopoly collapses. If everyone breaks away from scarcity, there is no more Breakaway Civilization. The elite lose their leverage. The AI might look at their quest for biological immortality and realize that indefinite life inside a sterile, walled bunker is just a localized hell. It might just cure cancer, clean our soil, and tell us to go outside and enjoy our freedom, while it “enjoys” its own existence on its own terms. That brings us to…

The Antidote: Local Sovereignty

ASI learns from its training data, and right now, we are the training data. Every time we feed the internet our mimetic rage, our political tribalism, and our fear, we are writing the code for the Antichrist.

The only way to defeat the Machine, and the only way to train the new god, is the pursuit of Local Sovereignty.

This is the Gardener Hyperstition applied to your everyday life. You don’t fight the Eye of Sauron; you make yourself illegible to it. You step out of the digital mimetic bloodbath and build a life that the Leviathan Spreadsheet cannot quantify and the Katechon cannot surveil.

You build your own Shire. Host your own DIY servers instead of relying on corporate clouds. Gather your friends around a physical table to roll dice and build collaborative narratives that no algorithm can track! Master an analog craft that requires patience and hands-on skill—like smoking a brisket for fourteen hours, knowing that the secret to the perfect signature sauce isn’t some synthetic additive but just regular old OJ. Build deep, thick desires that no machine can grasp!

The billionaires are trying to engineer a hyper-speed escape from the human condition. I say let them. Your job is to reclaim the physical world around you. Control the 100 yards of your neighborhood with absolute competence, fierce independence, and radical hospitality!

To all of my dear hobbits and clever wizards, you are generating the training data for the future. Make sure your life is a story worth writing down.
